Torggler EKOR 44R mortar (renovation) It is designed for making hydrophobic and vapour-permeable renovation/repair plasters on wall and ceiling surfaces susceptible to capillary water absorption and for preventing efflorescence and mould. Capillary absorption in the bonded mortar is neutralised by the hydrophobicity of the EKOR 44R plaster.
The plaster practically always remains dry. At the same time, the high porosity of the plaster facilitates the escape of moisture in the form of vapour from the wall.
The process of drying a damp wall through capillary water absorption proceeds as follows: the porous plaster attracts moisture from the wall.
This, at the wall-plaster boundary, evaporates and quickly migrates as water vapour through the plaster to the outside.
